Serena Kim is a lowkey legend, an OG party kid from Koreatown. This Fairfax High School Student Body President also founded a literary zine The Protozoan. In 1991, Kim traveled to South Africa to help make a student documentary about apartheid and the townships. She got a degree in Islamic History at UCSC in three years. A pioneering female DJ, she rocked the Tunnel on Saturday nights in the early 2000s. She DJ’ed the Yankees’ third World Series victory party and held residency at Veruka. Kim was the features editor of the National Award-winning music magazine, Vibe. She covered hip-hop in mainstream newspapers and magazines. She went on to define the social media voice for iTunes in many English-language territories. She wrote speeches for Samsung Mobile executives. And now she handles the marketing and co-owns Swift House Inn, one of the sweetest boutique hotels in Vermont.
